I attended an event hosted by NYC UXPA last night led by Greg Dilley, a UX Designer and strategist. He split everyone into 5-7 groups to brainstorm and sketch ideas on NYC UXPA website redesign. It’s one of the best events I’ve attended so far – mostly because of its interactive nature that allowed us attendees to exchange our ideas for the project to increase membership and to increase traffic among other things.

I gave a presentation, “Why Accessibility is Universal Design: Perspective from a Deaf Professional”, on July 26th – the day that also happened to be the 26th anniversary of ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). I was speaking at an event hosted by NYC UXPA at the Motivate Design office. As usual, I signed in American Sign Language and was voiced by a sign language interpreter and live captions were projected on a separate screen for the audience as part of universal access.
