Diversity and inclusion has been a hot topic lately. Issues experienced by women and minority groups are often discussed at events and in media which is great. However, the largest minority is sadly rarely or never mentioned – it’s people with disabilities. They represent 1.3 BILLION people worldwide with $1 TRILLION of disposable income.
This year marks 27 anniversary of ADA – Americans with Disabilities Act. However, the House Judiciary Committee voted to advance H.R. 620 which is the ADA Education and Reform Act of 2017 – as explained on their website (where their video is not captioned, by the way).
Today is 27th anniversary of ADA – Americans with Disabilities Act. On the photo above is me giving a presentation last year about accessibility at a local event that happened to be on the anniversary of ADA. The slide on the photo says: “Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws.” It’s Plato’s quote and my favorite.
