Audio Accessibility
There are about 50 million of people in the USA (20% of the total population) who have various degree of hearing loss. It is a very important fact to know when considering accessibility to aural information via visual means such as captioning, lipreading, sign language, cued speech, etc. Unfortunately, deafness/hearing loss is not well understood and very stigmatized by society.
For these reasons, a website was created to spread more awareness about deafness and encourage more businesses and non-disabled individuals to provide full and equal communication and information access to aural information.
Website
I created a website – www.audio-accessibility.com – based on WordPress by first doing sketches and wireframes and then customizing a new theme, doing visual design, coding in HTML/CSS, doing some PHP tweaks, writing content. New blog entries are posted 1-3 times a month.
Consulting, Training, Speaking
I also provide consulting and training to businesses about captioning and communication access best practices and speak at some events and conferences.
